Question from Dave in Alabama
This week we had Dave from Alabama send us a photo of his dog. He had been told it's a Kelpie and was wanting to know if that is correct....It’s important to realise, collies come in many varieties including white and brown. The image you sent is that of a collie type, not a Kelpie or for that matter a Border Collie. In fact I doubt if he has any Kelpie in him at all. Many collie strains have sharp pointed ears, but still, they’re not Kelpies! The identity of the true Border Collie breed is in many countries, confused. Just because their colours are black and white or brown and white does not make them Border collies. I am currently producing a program, explaining the criteria for identifying true Border collies requirements and characteristics.
All the best with your great little companion. Bill Robertson
